Brandon in Suffolk now shares its name with towns in Lincolnshire, Durham and Warwickshire. According to the Eilert Ekwall in the Oxford Dictionary of English Place Names, the origin of the name is "Brandon, usually 'hill where broom grows'".

Surrounded by acres of forest, Brandon has a fascinating history that dates back hundreds of years, a time when Brandon was known as Brandon Ferry and the High Street was Ferry Street. You can read more on the history of Brandon on our brief history page.
