Victor wins county council election

Victor Lukaniuk has taken the most votes following yesterday's local election and will become the new Suffolk County Councillor for Brandon.

The West Suffolk Independent candidate won with 47% of the vote, taking 937 of the 1997 votes cast.

Stephen Frost (Conservative) received 562 votes, Reg Silvester (UKIP) received 256 votes and Susan Dean (Labour) received 242 votes.

Turnout for voting in the election in the town was 29.6%.

Victor is already a Brandon Town councillor and Forest Heath District councillor meaning he is soon to become a councillor for all three councils that represent Brandon.

Speaking to BrandonSuffolk.com, Victor said: "A big thank you to all those who voted for me and for those who did not, they will get the opportunity to do so in two years time.

"It will be business as usual for me attempting to improve the visual appearance of the town; in fact tomorrow morning I will be watering the trees in the avenue and cutting the grass at the 'triangle' on Bury Road.

"Once again thank you fellow Brandonians from Victor, your new county councillor."
