Town 'yarn bombed' in remembrance

A small part of Brandon has been 'yarn bombed' with the help of Brandon in Bloom to celebrate Remembrance Day this weekend.

Thanks to the efforts of a team of volunteers, over 600 poppies are now sitting proudly along the wall opposite the Flintknappers pub in the centre of town.

Two large poppies and the words 'lest we forget' form part of the ten metre display which comes after a week of knitting and crocheting by almost 30 residents.

Rachel Sobiechowski, who organised the 'yarn bombing' and appealed for help last week on Facebook, said "The response from the Brandon forum has been overwhelming, to create such a wonderful display in less than a week is awe inspiring.

"A big thank you to everyone who took part in creating the display."
