RAF Lakenheath airman dies in collision

An airman from 48th Fighter Wing has been killed as a result of a single vehicle collision in the early hours of Friday morning, the 24th of November.

The Police were called to the incident on the B1106 just after midnight where a blue Honda Civic had collided with a tree approximately a mile north of the Center Parcs entrance.

Ambulance and fire crews were also in attendance but the driver, 21-year-old Hayley Reynolds, sadly died at the scene.

Reynolds, from New Haven in Indiana, joined to the 48th Medical Group at RAF Lakenheath in April 2016.

As a result of a police investigation the road was closed for several hours and reopened just after 8am.

Col. Evan Pettus, 48th Fighter Wing commander, said "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Airman Reynolds, and send our sincerest condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.

"The Liberty Wing would like to thank emergency responders from Suffolk Police and Norfolk Fire and Rescue for their efforts in responding to the accident.

"As the days get shorter and colder, we continue to stress driving safety measures to our Airmen and families."
