Judging for in bloom takes place

Judges from Anglia in Bloom have completed their tour of Brandon carried out by the Brandon in Bloom team who will have to wait until the awards ceremony in September for their verdict.

The tour, headed up by Rachel Sobiechowski and Victor Lukaniuk, started at Glade Academy where the judges were shown gardening work carried out by pupils.

It was then on to Brandon Country Park for a look around the walled garden and park lake before a drive to Seymour's Garden where Gary Brocklehurst, along with Loraine and Poppy Skikunas, spoke about the area and the bug hotel created by Brandon Rainbows and Brownies.

A quick stop off at Doddalies Pond was followed by a visit to Fledgelings Pre-School and a walk down The Avenue with Alison Barnes from Brandon Town Council.

Another drive took the judges to The Orchard off Rattlers Road to meet with manager Maggie for a quick look around the community garden and the gardens of the residents.

The final taxi ride took everyone to The Triangle on Bury Road before the final stop at The Wedge on Thetford Road.

Alfie Keeley, who regularly helps out at The Wedge, was presented with a certificate from the judges in recognition of his work.

Brandon in Bloom will now have to wait until the awards ceremony in September, which will be taking place at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds, to find out how they have done in the competition.
