At 6.38pm on Wednesday four fire and rescue appliances were initially sent to the scene however this was quickly increased as the fire spread.

Whilst at the scene on Wednesday evening, Brandon Fire Station posted on Facebook: "We are currently at 28,000 sqm of undergrowth on fire at the edge of Brandon at Mile End.

"We have 8 Fire appliances here at the moment and will be here through the night and into tomorrow.

"We would like to thank the kind members of public who came down and gave us refreshments and crisps. Thank you very much we highly appreciate it."
