Woman seriously injured in bus incident

A woman in her 70s has been left with serious injuries after she fell from a bus in Brandon when it moved as she was getting off.

Police and the ambulance service were called just before 1.30pm today, Wednesday 8th August, to the incident in George Street close to Brandon Fire Station.

The road was closed for around 90 minutes whilst paramedics and doctors from the East Anglian Air Ambulance and East of England Ambulance Service attended to the woman.

A spokesperson for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said: "Anglia Two was tasked to Brandon to assist the EEAST team and police with an elderly woman who had been involved in a road traffic incident. Pilots Rosh Jaypalan and Daniel Mansell landed in a field a distance from scene and the critical care team were escorted to scene by waiting police.

"Doctor Sam Todd, Critical Care Paramedic Rod Wells and Supervisor Doctor Ed Gold gave the patient a full assessment and assisted the EEAST team on scene.

"The patient was taken, by the road ambulance crew, to West Suffolk Hospital for further treatment."
