On Saturday 1st June Brandon hosted its inaugural family-friendly Rainbow Colour Run and Pride Day.
The event saw over 100 enthusiastic participants of all ages run through vibrant clouds of colour, with a special contribution from the Brandon Fire Station crew, who created a spectacular water mist for the runners to dash through.
The celebration of diversity and inclusivity continued throughout the day, transforming the area into a lively hub of activity. A variety of stalls offered a range of goods and services, while the atmosphere was further energised by outstanding live music performances.
DJ Archie Stohr and entertainers Panache, Dennis Anthony, Ginni Tonix, Steven Lee, Rhian, and One Mel of a Voice kept the crowd dancing and singing into the evening.
Many attendees shared their joy and expressed how proud they felt of their true selves, appreciating Brandon’s support for Pride and its values of equality, love, and respect. The event also featured poignant moments where speakers highlighted the significant progress made in LGBTQ+ rights and equality, while acknowledging the ongoing journey towards full acceptance and equality.
The success of this first Pride Day in Brandon was made possible by the unwavering support of the community, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers. With plans already underway for next year’s event, the anticipation is high for another memorable celebration of Pride in Brandon.
